Introduction

Xerte is Open Source software designed by Nottingham University. It is aimed at developers of interactive content; they have also developed an easier version which is known as Xerte Online Tool Kits. This is server based and can be authored quickly without any developer skills.

Xerte Options

To download the Xerte Toolkits go to the Xerte website http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/xerte/.

You can install Xerte Online Toolkits on a standalone computer, or a web server.

Xerte on a Stick

For portability and ease of use I would download Xerte onto a 4GB USB stick, however upload your objects into a Virtual Learning environment to free up space on your USB. Also keep in mind that the version of Xerte will remain the same on the USB unless you download a new version of Xerte.

Download the Zipped folder from the following link http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9112584/Xerte%201_6%20On%20a%20stick.zip Once you have saved the zipped folder on your computer, extract the files. Copy the extracted files into a USB stick. They need to be on the root of the usb stick, which means you can't put them within a folder on the USB stick.

JISC Learning Teach Inclusively

The project delivers a 30 credit ‘tailor-able’ module entitled ‘teaching inclusively’ that may be taken by teaching and support staff as part of an accredited professional development program.

The OERs are defined as learning materials and activities that are freely available to be used; changed and redistributed these might include video clips, PowerPoint slides, photographs and other media. They cover the following areas.
