This online webinar will cover effective practice on the use of eportfolios in the UK and USA. This unique transatlantic webinar will feature presenters from both the UK and USA who will deliver 4 short presentations on the growing use of web based eportfolios for use in "work based learning”. JISC RSC East and West Midlands have teamed up with Heln Chen & John Ittleson of the Community of Practice Electronic Portfolio Action and Communication (EPAC): http://epac.pbworks.com/ .

Delegates will be given the opportunity to interact with presenters via the use of voting and chat features in this live session.

All you need to take part in the session is access to the Internet and a headset, preferably with a microphone attached - but a microphone not neccessary to enjoy the event. Full delegate instructions can be accessed as a link at the bottom of this page, and will be sent via email.

Presenters details

  • Dr. Jacqueline Goodwin, coordinator of the USA based eFolio Pennyslvania initiative. We are particularly excited about this speaker since this is a statewide initiative sponsored by the Pennyslvania Department of Labor.

Jill Lumsden is currently Associate Director of the Career Center at Florida State University, and has worked in career services for over 10 years. She manages FSU’s ePortfolio program (Career Portfolio) and supervises technology and promotions at the Career Center. Jill received her master’s and specialist in education degrees in Counseling and Human Systems, with a specialization in Career Counseling from FSU. Before earning her degrees, she worked as a Job Placement Counselor assisting veterans transitioning out of the military. Jill also provides distance career counseling as an independent contractor with ReadyMinds. She is a National Certified Counselor and Distance Credentialed Counselor.

Mick Gilroy is e-learning manager at Lincoln Academy (trading as Isis training), a work-based training provider that delivers learning and assessment programmes for over 400 apprentices across rural Lincolnshire in the east of England. Mick has had a pivotal role in developing and introducing organisation-wide use of technology including the embedded use of e-portfolio, for which the company won Becta Technology Exemplar status.


  • Simon Grant of UK based JISC CETIS will be discussing his new book in with a focus on work based learning using eportfolios.
