The open video project:

The purpose of the Open Video Project is to collect and make available a repository of digitized video content for the digital video, multimedia retrieval, digital library, and other research communities.

MERLOT & World Lecture Hall

MERLOT is a vast free searchable database resource providing access to multimedia educational resources for learning & teaching online. USA based, but many are relevant to UK. The World lecture hall is a similar and equally vast collection of courses to the Merlot collection. Subjects range from accounting to zoology. USA based.

Open Courseware!

Similar to open source software principle, i.e. the open sharing of course materials to a community. There are two main sites in this field at HE level the USA based one (below) and the UK Open University OpenLearn intiative. I have read some of these materials from the MIT and they are excellent. This database access resources form the follwoing universities:

MIT OCW , Utah State University OCW, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health OCW, Tufts University OCW, Foothill De-Anza SOFIA, Carnegie Mellon Open Learning Initiative.

Wikibooks

Wikibooks is a Wikimedia project that was started on July 10, 2003 with the mission to create a free collection of open-content textbooks that anyone can edit. Since its founding, volunteers have written about 24,800 modules in a multitude of textbooks.
